Run a complete used laptop test in one guided flow
Follow eight clear checks from screen to battery, see your progress as you go, and finish with a LaptopProof report. The essential tests run directly on this page.
Identify the laptop you are checking
Add a model or seller reference so it appears on your final report. Nothing is uploaded.
Device details & physical condition
First confirm the laptop matches the seller's description and inspect the parts a browser cannot see.
Display, dead pixels & refresh rate
Check the panel without leaving this page. Start with the detected display details, then run the full-screen color test.
Keyboard response
Press letters, numbers, arrows, modifiers and function keys. Your key presses stay in this browser session.
Trackpad / mouse
Move around the area, click different buttons and scroll. This confirms that pointer events reach the browser normally.
Webcam
Allow camera access when asked. The preview stays on your device and is not uploaded by this test.
Microphone & speakers
Watch the microphone meter respond to your voice, then play a short tone through the left and right channels.
Battery & charging
Some browsers no longer expose battery data, so this step combines any available browser information with important manual checks.
Network, ports & ownership checks
Finish with the practical checks that matter before payment. Only tick items that apply to this laptop.
Checkup not finished yet
Complete the checks to build your report.
What the full LaptopProof test checks
The guided test combines browser measurements with clear manual checks so you can inspect a second-hand laptop without bouncing between separate pages. Individual tools remain available for deeper testing and search visitors, but the main buying workflow stays in one session.
Interactive tests
Dead pixels, keyboard, pointer, webcam, microphone, speakers and browser-exposed device details.
Manual checks
Physical condition, battery swelling, ports, charger, ownership locks and seller claims.
One final report
Your pass, attention and skipped results are combined into a printable summary stored locally in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Will the full test open a new page for every check?
No. The essential checks are integrated into this guided page. Separate tool pages still exist if you want to run a specific test independently.
Does LaptopProof upload my camera or microphone?
The built-in camera preview and microphone meter use browser media APIs and are designed to run locally in your browser. Permission is requested only when you start those tests.
Can a browser fully test SSD, RAM and battery health?
No. Browser security limits access to many internal hardware metrics. The final report clearly separates browser checks from items that should be verified using the operating system or manufacturer diagnostics.
